Online Fitting Course

Yay! Definitely! I'm so excited you're ready to get started. .
Before learning fitting it's always helpful if you have completed a few sewing projects beforehand, as this will give you a head start and a better understanding of constructing clothes.

Your tutor will be Alys:
Hi. I’m Alys! I’m a pattern maker and I’ve worked for brands such as Alexander McQueen, steventai, Paper London and Teija. My aim is to teach pattern making ind fitting in a fun and easy way to give you the freedom to design and fit your own clothes, exactly how you want.
I’ve been teaching students in person for the past 4 years. Which means my courses are designed to be as hands on as a real life workshop yet with the flexibility to work in your own time.

Throughout the course, I’ll share techniques for fitting solo so you can fit your toiles without a second person and test the adjustments on the toile to make sure they work!
However, if you usually need help taking your clothes on and off or you struggle with mobility, you’ll likely need a second person to help you with the course.

Absolutely not. All the videos are pre-recorded, and you’ll have access forever, so you can work through the course in your own time.
However, it can be helpful to complete the course whilst it’s live so you can ask questions and get help as you go, as well as for extra motivation.
The live element will be kept open for 2 weeks after the course ends if you need time to catch up, as I totally understand that life can be busy!

Fitting Foundations and the Patterns Unpicked course are designed to be completed in either order! However, after you’ve completed the fit course, you’ll have a custom block pattern that you can use to put your pattern-making skills into practice straight away!

You can download the recommended tools and materials list here. You'll also receive a copy in your sign-up email. But don't let not having the perfect equipment stop you from getting started - you can definitely improvise and most materials are only needed in week 2.

In the course, we'll be using a dress block pattern. You'll receive a PDF pattern (size 8-38) the week before the course goes live. As well as a jam-packed fit guide during the course that you can reference forever.

I understand that fitting can feel intimidating! Throughout the course, you can choose the level you want to go to. I don’t believe in a ‘perfect fit’; instead, I want you to be confident that you can get the fit you want.
If you’re just starting out, you may want to focus on 1 or 2 areas to fit. Or if you’re up for it, you can deep dive into multiple.
I’m always here to answer your questions to help you decide if the course is right for you, with zero pressure to join. So feel free to get in touch.

All the content is pre-recorded so you can work in your own time, from anywhere in the world. Whilst still getting support, feedback and ask questions along the way in the community feed. I hope this feels the best of both worlds! 💕

Yes! Of course, under each lesson there is a space to comment, ask questions and get expert advice! As well as a community feed where you can post pictures of your patterns and toiles and get feedback as you work through the course.

Yes! You’ll always have access to the content, and it's there for you whenever you need it!

You can find a sneak peek inside our course hub and community feed below!
The course is available on both desktop and phone (by downloading the Mighty Networks app). However, the platform is easier to navigate on your desktop. So, I recommend getting started on the desktop. Once you know what's available, you can use your phone to view the videos and content easily on the go!

When you purchase a space in the fitting course, you'll receive a confirmation email and then a second email with a tools list and some ways you can prep for the course.
If you haven't received the second email within 5 minutes, check your junk inbox and then get in touch, as you'll need to receive our emails to access the course.
You'll receive an email 1 week before with a PDF version of the dress block and another on the day the course goes live with a link to access the course hub.
